Botched Decision 100% Biden’s Fault
Although democrat propagandists in both the administration and news media continue to push the false narrative that President Biden was forced to withdraw troops in Afghanistan, pursuant to President Trump’s Afghanistan Withdrawal Agreement – signed by the Taliban on February 29, 2020 – such sentiment is in reality little more than a talking point designed to exonerate the president from making quite possibly the most inept military decisions in the history of the United States.
To begin, the agreement made under the Trump administration was never presented to the Senate for ratification – much like the Iran Deal, the Paris Climate Accord, and the Mexico City Policy, all of which subsequent administrations were not bound to honor, and didn’t.
Furthermore, the May 1, 2021 deadline for withdrawal of US troops under President Trump’s Afghanistan Withdrawal Agreement was conditioned-based with five conditions, the first of which read as follows:
Taliban will not allow any of its members, other individuals or groups, including al-Qa’ida, to use the soil of Afghanistan to threaten the security of the United States and its allies.cnsnews.com
Within days of signing said agreement, the Taliban reneged by attacking Afghan forces in the Helmand province, prompting the US to launch airstrikes in response. Hence, in violation of the aforementioned condition, not even President Trump was bound by this agreement.
Neither was President Biden, as he changed the date of withdrawal from May 1, 2021 to August 31, 2021 – a political decision seeking to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 – and removed previously defined conditions.
While the US military has performed admirably with great honor in executing instructions for evacuation of Americans and our allies, the decisions made by President Biden have jeopardized US security for many years to come, as well of the lives of Americans left behind. He should be impeached for dereliction of duty.
